ABOUT HUSK

Christian Chapman

General Manager

Guest-centric and team-oriented, Christian Chapman has more than two decades of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Born and raised in a small town in North Carolina, Chapman was the sixth of seven sons in his family and his stepmother was always inventing creative ways to feed the large family. Influenced by his stepmother’s delicious home cooking, Chapman discovered his passion for fresh, local ingredients and learned, by example, that it takes love to create an authentic southern dish. Having worked various restaurant jobs in high school, including dishwashing and bussing tables, Chapman went on to further his education at Appalachian State University, where he received his Bachelors in Business Administration to pursue his career in hospitality.

After college, Chapman cemented his passion for the hospitality industry through serving and bartending at various restaurants across North Carolina, as well as one in New Orleans. In 2007, Chapman accepted a position as Bar Manager at La Strada in Lake Lure, NC where he was responsible for managing the bar staff and establishing the specialty cocktail program and wine list. One year later, Chapman joined the team at McCrady’s in Charleston, SC as a server and bartender; he was later promoted to Banquet Manager in 2009. Acting as the liaison and coordinator for guest events, Chapman was responsible for managing the dining room and staff, while also working in tandem with the Banquet Chef to deliver service in a timely, well-orchestrated manner.

In 2015, Chapman was named General Manager at Minero Charleston, a sister restaurant within The Neighborhood Dining Group portfolio. The transition was a natural fit, as Minero integrates two of Chapman’s favorite cuisines, Mexican and Southern. At Minero Charleston, Chapman oversaw the fast-paced taco eatery to ensure guests’ expectations were met. In 2017, Chapman was named General Manager at Husk Savannah, where he will return to his more refined style of service and gracious hospitality. 

At Husk Savannah, opening in late 2017, Chapman will implement the multifaceted aspects of hospitality, executing flawless service and fostering an inviting atmosphere to ensure each guest’s visit is impeccable. Chapman hopes to drive awareness to the restaurants’ twice-daily rotating menus featuring locally sourced ingredients, signature beverages and gracious hospitality. Chapman will influence each guest’s experience by encouraging diners to expand their culinary palate and explore the delicious flavors of Husk’s modern twist on Southern classics. As General Manager, Chapman is responsible for daily operations, staff training and ensuring that Husk Savannah is a leading culinary influence in The Hostess City by creating unforgettable experiences through food, service and ambience.

Chapman now resides in Savannah, GA, with his fiancé, Laura, and their dog Lucius. Highly adventurous, Chapman is looking forward to exploring his new city and fully embracing the local Savannah food and music scene. When not at Husk Savannah, he enjoys traveling, making homemade jerky and hot sauces and entertaining friends and family.
